Bank A/C Hacking through WhatsApp
State Bank and all other commercial banks have always been warning their customers regarding different ways that fraudsters use to get information regarding customers’ bank accounts.
The fraudsters usually send messages to bank customers regarding the Activation of a bank account or ATM/ Debit Card and require some information to activate them.
If the bank customers provide them with such secret and sensitive information then Hackers easily breach the bank security system and hack the customer’s bank accounts. In this way, hackers take away all the balance in the account and leave the customers helpless.
In this public awareness message, State Bank warns the general public to be aware of such fraudsters. Now Fraudsters are using WhatsApp to reach bank customers and asking for ATM/Debit Card and Bank Account information so that their bank account or debit card is reactivated.
SBP informs the general public that it has nothing to do with a bank account or ATM/Debit Card activation. As the fraudsters are using the SBP logo and pretend to be talking as representatives of SBP, hence it’s pertinent to know that SBP never approaches bank customers for such banking activities.
Moreover, commercial banks do not send such messages to their bank customers. If any bank Account holder receives any such message wherein the sender of the message asks for sharing bank-related sensitive information then the customers must ignore any such message or complaint to SBP, PTA and FIA.
Bank customers must not click on any link sent through SMS, WhatsApp message or through E-Mail. The hackers reach the bank Account of that customer who clicks on any such link which keeps a virus to break the bank security system.
